Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Maxim Uvaidov met with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Qu Dongyu and Deputy Head of the General Administration of Customs Wang Lingjun. During the meeting in Beijing the parties discussed bilateral agricultural cooperation between the countries.

The parties acknowledged recent progress in Russian-Chinese relations. However, despite constant growth of bilateral trade, the stock-list of Russian supplies had not achieved its full potential. Maxim Uvaidov expressed interest in the increase of supplies of livestock products and non-food animal products to the Chinese market. For this purpose the Chinese party was advised to accept Russian regionalization principles including those applied to foot-and-mouth disease, nodular dermatitis and African swine fever. Regulators are expected to proceed with the clearance of pork, cattle meat and turkey by-products. The work on the access of Russian animal feed and feed additives to the Chinese market is ongoing as previously agreed.

During his work visit Maxim Uvaidov also met with Luan Richeng, Vice President of the COFCO Corporation. The parties discussed opportunities for increase of supplies of Russian wheat, corn as well as fat-and-oil products. The appropriate memorandum shall be signed in the nearest future. Russian government authorities would render all possible assistance in the realization of agricultural projects of the company within the country, Mr. Uvaidov concluded.
