• • • Effect of mineral fertilizers on sorghum-sudangrass hybrids in the south-west of the Central Non-Chernozem area

The experiment took place in the Bryansk region in 2015–2017. The article presents the results on improvement of individual elements in the cultivation technology of sorghum-sudangrass hybrids in the south-west of the Non-Chernozem area. The aim was to evaluate the influence of mineral fertilization on hybrid performance on gray forest soil with a low clay content. NPK, PK and ammonium nitrate significantly affected growth, development, yield and quality of forage mass. Mineral fertilizers positively influenced plant height and intensity of shoot formation. Yields of forage mass varied strongly in variants, treated by N-fertilizers. Hybrids “Sabantuy F1” and “Solyaris”, treated by N90 had the highest dry (14.8–15.8 t ha-1) and green mass productivities (65–71 t ha-1) on the background of N60P60K60. Hybrids “Slavyanskoe pole 15 F1” and “Priusadebnyy F1” were less productive, producing 13.1 and 13.7 t ha-1 of dry mass, respectively. Fertilized and unfertilized variants differed the most. Different mineral backgrounds (N60P60K60 and P60K60) had significant effect on forage nutritional value. Lab results showed strong differences in forage biochemical composition among the hybrids.
