PRODUCTIVITY AND OIL FATTY ACID COMPOSITION OF COLE CROPS BRED IN THE ALL-RUSSIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF OIL CROP

Bioclimatic and soil conditions are suitable for cole crop cultivation (spring rapeseed, cress and gold-of-pleasure) in the Siberian Federal District. Oils of the given crops contain large amount of unsaturated fatty acids (oleic, linoleic, linolenic), that are of great importance for human organism. Plant breeders of Siberian Experimental Station, the All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops focus on oil content and quality increase in seeds when cole crop breeding (low content of glucosinolates in seeds and erucic acid elimination in oil). The paper presents short description of registered rapeseed (“Yubileynyy”, “Kupol”, “Granit”), cress (“Luchistaya”, “Pobeda”) and gold-of-pleasure varieties (“Isilkulets”, “Omich”) on their productivity (yield, oil content and oil yield) and oil fatty acid composition. Cress and gold-of-pleasure productivities were lower than the rapeseed one and made up 1.87–2.67 and 1.72–2.44 t ha-1, respectively. These crops have minor areas of cultivation, compared to rapeseed, but show some advantages, such as early maturation (cress, gold-of-pleasure) and low costs (gold-of-pleasure). In the period of the research high seed productivity happened for the rapeseed “Granit”, having high oil concentration (yield — 2.80 t ha-1, oil content — 51.2%, oil yield — 1290 kg ha-1), cress “Pobeda” and gold-of-pleasure “Omich”.
