The development of Russian forage science and industry is closely linked with the activities of the scientific schools formed and developing on the basis of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fodders named after V. R. Williams. The latter celebrates its 100-year anniversary in the service of Russian science on 12–14th June 2012.

Keywords: scientific school, forage production, grassland farming, field fodder production, breeding and seed production of forage crops, feed preservation and storing.

Meadow and field forage production

Kutuzov G. P. The role of herbicides in forage crops’ cultivation

6

УДК: 632.954:633.2/4

For intensifying cultivation technologies of forage crops and increasing the amounts of forages produced on arable land it is necessary to use integrated measures for protecting plant productivity, including effective application of herbicides.

Keywords: field forage production, integrated protection meathods, herbicides, ecological safety, economic efficiency.

Hramoy V. K., Rakhimov O. V. Yield and protein productivity of vetch in a mixture with oats, wheat and barley

9

УДК: 633.352+633.1

A field experiment showed that the three-vetch-cereal grain mixture exceeds the yield and protein productivity of two-grain mixture. Nitrogen fertilizer significantly increased the yield of mixtures, but reduced the proportion of vetch in the crop and fodder supply of digestible protein.

Keywords: vetch (Vicia sativa L.), oats (Avena sativa L.), spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), barley (Hordeum sativum L.), mixture, nitrogen fixation, yield, fiber, feed units, digestible protein.

Pankov D. M. The eff ectiveness of annuals’ mixtures in agriculture of the Altai steppe

11

УДК: 633.1: 633.31/37; 63

The article considers the yields of grain mixture in the steppe of the Altai, depending on the species composition and agricultural practices. The best results were obtained at early dates of planting (May 10–15) with the application of N15P20K20: the yield reached 2.85 t/ha. Th e highest yield is obtained from a mixture of oats, peas, barley and wheat with vetch; it is 0.48 t/ha more than that of the single-species oats crops. Yield increase from bee pollination reaches 0.06 t/ha.

Keywords: forest-steppe of the Altai, grain mixture, sowing dates, fertilizers, components of the mixture, bee pollination, productivity.

Slobodyanik T. M. Using soybean in mixtures with cereals for producing high-quality voluminous forages

14

УДК: 633.34+633.527.2:633

Influence of phases of oats and oats-soybean mixture, paisa and soybean-paisa mixture on yield and quality of green mass was studied. Using soybean-cereals mixtures allows getting high-quality forages.
