• • • Silage making and storing in plastic vacuum containers
Paper presents the intensive technology of silage production and storage in plastic vacuum containers. The technology includes green mass preparation by the conventional method, using trivial forage harvesters. The equipment is offered, consisted of special block, bag and container, made of air-proof plastic sheet, with a reverse flap for air pumping. Schemes of the container, bag and block are presented as well as vacuum process, including equipment (power point, vacuum pump, vacuum tank with vacuummeter), needed to create vacuum conditions in the container with the reverse flap. The research shows the results on silage making process, using plastic vacuum containers, under various moisture content and vacuum pressure. The silage, made in accordance with the suggested technology, contained 21.9% more crude protein and 20% more carotene than the silage, prepared by the conventional method, even though the former had lower dry matter content. Losses of silage mass and its nutritional qualities were not revealed.
