Investigations took place in the Ivanovo region in 2015–2018. Lately grain production faced high grain yield and quality losses due to improper technology. High temperature, water movements, fungi, insects and mycotoxins can negatively affect grain quality during its treatment and storage. Grain temperature and moisture are main parameters defining its condition and internal processes. Using ventilation systems is an important technological technique for safe storage. Unlike other ventilation systems vertical air-stripping tower has high effectiveness and low price. Investigations aimed at definition of optimal design and technological parameters of air-stripping tower for grain cooling. Paper reports on practical analyses of cooling by air-stripping tower and contains a review of recent foreign researches. Experiments determined basic technological and design parameters of vertical air-stripping tower that lead to effective storage and high quality of grain coming directly from field or dryers. Discharge and suction modes were tested competitively. One large-scale vertical tower cooled around 100 t of grain cube of 3 m in height in discharge mode and 80 t — in suction mode. Paper materials can be used as a basis for application of air-stripping tower at grain producing farms.
