Developing multi-varietal agrophytocesoses allows significant increase of forage value and balancing it in digestible protein content. The research included evaluation of yield, chemical composition and feed parameters of Sudan grass and sunflower as monocultures and mixtures with legumes for haylage and silage production under various mineral bachgrounds. Multi-varietal sowings, having good density and layered assimilation surface, formed high yield of green mass. In haylage production mixtures of Sudan grass with vetch and sunflower performed the best: from 25.5 t ha-1 under zero fertilization to 30.2–32.35 t ha-1 — on the mineral backgrounds. Mixtures of conventional crops with legumes significantly enriched phytomass in protein, fat and mineral elements. Complex agrocenoses yielded more digestible protein in comparison to Sudan grass-sunflower mixtures, providing high yield of feed units and balance in protein. Sudan grass formed the best yield in mixtures with sunflower and legumes, therefore these mixtures were recommended for haylage production as the most productive at that period. Sunflower performed the best in mixtures with soybean and vetch, therefore it was more efficient to use these mixtures for silage production, when harvesting at flowering time of sunflower.
