The investigation tested the effectiveness of tillage and chemical treatment, aimed at obtaining of green and roughage feeds (hay), meeting the health-based exposure limit of 137Сs specific activity. It took place in the Bryansk region in 2014–2016 on the long-term trial field, used from 1994 in the central floodplain of the Iput River. Soil contamination density by 137Сs averaged to 559–867 kBq/m2 in the period of the experiment. Agrocenosis consisted of meadow fescue (6 kg ha-1), common foxtail (5 kg ha-1) and reed canary grass (7 kg ha-1). Cultivation complex comprised disking by harrow BDF-2.4 and plowing by double deck plow PYA-40 at the depth of 40 cm. Fertilization happened fractionally: 1/2 of NK rate and full dose of P — before the first cut and 1/2 of NK rate — before the second one. 137Сs migration within a food chain depended on tillage method and fertilization. Plowing gave the most significant effect. Migration of 137Сs within the food chain was estimated (from fodder — into milk and meat). Rate of N:K, being 1:1.5 resulted in decrease of 137Сs specific activity in animal products and internal dose in human body, meeting the Radiation Safety Standard, irrespective of tillage technique.
