• • • Combination ability of haploid lines of spring rapeseed

One of the main goals in rapeseed breeding is obtaining interline hybrids showing high level of heterosis. The first step in breeding heterosis hybrids is developing a bug number of homozygous lines, evaluation of their qualitative and quantitative traits as well as their combining ability. Using doubled haploid allows acceleration of breeding process, comparing to conventional method for homozygote selection. Haploids, selected for breeding, were obtained from pollen grains of foreign varieties and the ones of the All-Russian Research Institute of Rapeseed. Selected haploids contained a number of economically important traits, including oil content and quality, low concentration of glucosinolates etc. Self-pollinated lines, obtained conventionally in the All-Russian Research Institute of Rapeseed, performed as testers. All crossbreeding combinations showed heterosis in productivity of 31–88%, depending on hybrid and season. Lines AL1, AL3, AL5, AL10 had good general combining ability. F1 hybrids showed heterosis in oil content of 2.4–20.6%, that was significantly influenced by growing conditions and occurred only in combination with tester Trailblazer, p-5©i9. Obtained lines had no heterosis in protein content.
