Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that agriculture is traditionally a very important sector for Serbia, which contributes to the growth of gross domestic product, and that it is necessary for it to be technologically advanced in order to increase the level of farming and the value of land.

During her visit to BioSense Institute in Novi Sad, Brnabic pointed to the importance of this institution, because it can make a big step forward in the digitisation of agriculture. According to the Prime Minister, the significance of BioSense Institute, which is a symbol of the new direction of Serbia’s development, is even greater because it connects two strategically important sectors of Serbia – agriculture, and information and communication technologies. According to her, the EU and the Government of Serbia have allocated €14 million, which is the largest single grant for science in Serbia. The Prime Minister pointed out that it is extremely important that BioSense will get a new building, when it will represent the center of excellence in Serbia and the region physically too.

Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic emphasised that BioSense managed to do what seemed abstract a few years ago – to digitise agriculture. BioSense will invest to projects another €16.5 million next year, which it obtained through victories in international competitions.
