DEVELOPING PLANT FODDER FOR OSTRICH FEEDING (STRYTHIO CAMELUS DOMESTICUS) IN THE RUSSIAN CENTRAL FEDERAL DISTRIC

The research was aimed at studying diets of African ostriches of various ages in the Zoos, nurseries and small farms. It evaluated nutritional value and balance of every fodder component that had to provide normal poultry development, weight gain, increase in egg yield, egg, meat and young bird quality. Currently, in most cases, the poultry is fed by copying the natural feeding. However, the diet has species, age and season specificity that are difficult to follow under the conditions of Zoos, nurseries and small farms. To solve the problem plant forage was suggested that was developed by optimization program “Korm Optima Ekspert”. To maintain ostrich life activity the exchange energy content must be at least 260 kcal per 100 g. Protein content has to account to at least 16%.
