Th e comparative study of basic and intermediate fodder crops is carried out on drained sod-podzolic gleyey sandy loam soil. Th e highest productivity of green mass among the basic cultures was provided by fi rst hay cut of red clover and winter rye. Among the mowing crops the highest yields were obtained by second hay cut of red clover, as well as rape, vetch and oats mixture, and mix of mustard with vetch and oats, sown after winter rye for green forage.
