The EGF meeting of 2013 was dedicated to the role of grasslands in a green future. Presentations were divided into three sessions: (i) improving eco-effi ciency in mixed farming systems, (ii) conservation of extensive grasslands and (iii) grasslands and biofuels. Topics covered in those sessions dealt with wide range of problems connected to grasslands. The aim of this paper is to give an overview of subjects and research results from the presentations at the 17th Symposium of the European Grassland Federation (EGF) In Iceland.

Lazarev N. N., Kostikova T. V. Productivity of binary legume-grass mixtures with bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus L.) and white clover (Trifolium repens L.)

13

УДК: 633.32

It is shown that binary legume-grass mixtures with white clover formed more productive agrophytocenosis than those with bird’s-foot trefoil, both at three- and four-fold usage. The grass mixtures receiving 120 kg/ha of nitrogen increased the yield by 1,6–2,3 times but the payback of nitrogen by the yield increase was not high.
