• • • Influence of fertilizers and seeding rates on biennial melilot productivity

Two-factorial experiment took place in 2009–2013 on trial field of Penza Agricultural Research Institute. It dealt with the effect of bacterium-mineral nutrition and seeding rate on green mass yield, quality and productivity of novel variety of biennial melilot “Solnyshko”. Leached chernozem of the trial field had high concentration of available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Efficacy of “Rizotorfin” was revealed, applied both separately and in combination with mineral fertilizers (NP), for the planned yield of 9 t dry matter ha-1. Seeding rate made up 10 million germinating seeds per ha. Feed unit yields for these variants were 7.81 and 8.45 t ha-1, digestible protein — 1.50 and 1.59 t ha-1, respectively. Nutritional value of 1 kg absolute dry matter was 0.72–0.84 feed units, exchange energy — 9.44–10.16 MJ, digestible protein content per 1 feed unit — 179–192 g. Inoculation by bacteria and fertilization reduced fiber content and increased protein concentration. Increasing seeding rate raised protein amount. Green mass yield was significantly affected by weather (31 %), seeding rate (21 %) and nutrition (12 %). Melilot cultivation had the best effectiveness under seeding rate of 10 million seeds per ha and seed treatment with bacteria under zero fertilization.
