• • • Effectiveness of feed additives on cow metabolism and milk productivity

The research analyzed the effect of non-conventional forage on cow metabolism, milk productivity, chemical composition and technological properties. The first experiment was conducted on three groups of black-and-white cows, yielding 5500‒6000 kg of milk for 305 days of lactation period. Each group had 15 cows, consuming the basic fodder (control), BF + 0.5 kg of energy feed additive (EFA), based on confectionery industry waste + 0.5 kg of molasses (2nd group) and BF + 1.0 kg of EFA (3rd group) for the first 100 days of lactation period. For this period first and second groups gave increase in gross daily milk yield of 343 and 397 kg, respectively. Feeding EFA positively affected protein and lipid metabolism as well as level of antioxidant defence. Second experiment analyzed 2 groups of 15 cows each. The experimental group consumed daily 300 g of liquid synthetic feed mixture (LSF) of vitamins and microelements (exchange energy content of 28.6 MJ kg-1) per head two weeks both prior to and after calving. The experimental group exceeded the control one in protein by 16.3 %. In the first month content of somatic cells reduced but blood parameters improved, showing lipid peroxidation and functional load on liver.
